The activation of the colonial policy of the German Empire in 1882-1884's is studied. Special attention is paid to the role of Otto von Bismarck in developing of colonial expansion of Germany. The data clarify the early colonial annexation, the story of their capture and areas that are strategically important for the future of colonial policy. The discussion of the first colonial heritage in the community and discussion of the issue in the press is considered. The significance of the colonies in the international situation and economic development is characterized.
