LOCALIZATION OF COSSACK WINTERING CAMPS ON THE TERRITORY OF THE CITY OF ZAPORIZHZHIA

On the basis of archival cartographic material, an attempt is made to local-ize the Zaporozhian winterers on the territory of the modern city of Zapor-ozhye. It is claimed that the countdown to the founding of the city cannot begin with the construction of a fortification by the Muscovites here, from which the beginning of the expansion or capture of the southern territories of the Zaporozhian Liberties can be counted. Documentary evidence of the aggressiveness of the invaders’ actions and the brutality of their behavior are provided. The question arises of possible archaeological explorations in the locations of individual winter camps in order to determine the date of their establishment, and therefore the date of the first settlements on the territory of the city. It is proposed to install appropriate memorial signs, and possibly museumization of individual archaeological sites and their inclusion in the tourist infrastructure of the city.
