Abstract

The article is devoted to historical-scientific analysis of the scientific researches‟ development on transport. The divisions of scientific-research center – Experimental Institute of Communications of People‟s Commissariat of communication means at the beginning of the XIX th century are characterized. The goals and objectives of this institution have been defined. The achievements of leading scientists and engineers aimed at overcoming technical and organizational lag in railways‟ operation organization have been highlighted.
