Indonesian «Reformasi» during the presidency of Abdurrahman Wahid and Megawati Sukarnoputri

The paper highlights the issues related to the socio-political development of the Republic of Indonesia during the «Reformasi» in 1999-2003. The main focus is on the political crisis, which hit the country during the presidency of Abdurrahman Wahid and Megawati Sukarnoputri. In the article are covered the strengthening of separatist tendencies in the country, the spread of the terrorist movement in Indonesia, which has led to a significant deterioration of the country’s image on the international arena, the emergence of social misunderstandings caused by the creation of a radical Muslim organizations.
