Abstract

The article examines the functioning of multi-circulation newspapers pub- lished by enterprises of the Dnipro industrial complex in the city of Zapor- izhzhia during the existence of the Ukrainian SSR. The role of these newspa- pers in ensuring the Communist Party’s ideological control over the process of industrialization and construction of ‘’the Soviet man’’ has been outlined. The specific tasks performed by the editorial boards of newspapers at the request of the directorates of enterprises, as well as by controlling Soviet and party bodies, have been highlighted. The classification of the genres of publications was carried out, and the specific types of historical sources that appeared in the periodical press of this type were indicated. It has been determined that the main contents of newspaper issues of industrial enterprises included legislative acts of the government and the party, administrative documents of enterprises, information messages about domestic and foreign life, sources of personal origin such as biographies, interviews, memoirs, and letters from employees, as well as photographic images. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of texts that highlighted various aspects of the social sphere and everyday life of the mass of ordinary workers at factories and other enterprises in Zaporizhzhia. This includes letters to newspaper editors and responses to them, as well as publications aimed at addressing various deviations, primarily alcoholism, low cultural levels, and unsatisfactory living conditions of the proletariat of that era.
